Remembering Cynthia

I've created this site in memory of

my mom, Cynthia Whitney Bloemer, who died in November 2023. I still can't believe she's gone. She touched the lives of so many with her creativity,

her generosity and empathy,

her mischievous sense of humor,

and her frozen margaritas.

I miss her so much.

Forever in Our Hearts

Story

Born in Pittsburg, Kansas

December 31, 1951

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cynthia Whitney Bloemer. After a long illness, she died on November 15, 2023, in Houston, Texas, with her daughter by her side.

Cynthia was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Nora Ankrum, and son-in-law, Tim Warden; her grandson, Artie Warden; her sister and brother-in-law, Paula and Bill Smith; her nieces, Alexea Garcia and Tiffany Blanchard; as well as many friends and extended family members.

Cynthia was born in Pittsburg, Kansas, on December 31, 1951, just moments before her twin sister, Paula. They were born so close to midnight that they were nearly born not only on different days but in different years.

In death, Cynthia was preceded by her brother, John Randolph Whitney, who died too young, and by her parents, Al and Doris Whitney.

Cynthia had a big heart and an even bigger sense of humor. She was the life of the party, always. Her kind and gracious nature will never be forgotten.

We'd like to extend special thanks to Alysse Casey for all the laughter and support she brought to Cynthia and her family through the final years of Cynthia's illness. We are also deeply grateful for the kindness of Gary and Brenda Warden and Alicia Bennett throughout this time.

We hope to celebrate Cynthia's life with a memorial gathering in Kansas in the springtime. As someone who loved spending time outdoors, gardening, and cooking on the grill (and who was a certified barbecue judge), Cynthia was especially fond of that time of year. Details to come.
